Bellwright Village Prosperity Guide

Increase and maintain Bellwright village Prosperity through improvements, trade, threat control, militia support, and sustainable regional planning.

Bellwright village Prosperity grows when a liberated village is improved and its region is kept stable. Higher Prosperity supports stronger militia and wider village development, while unchecked threats can push progress backward.

Short answer: liberate only when ready, clear regional threats, invest in improvements that solve a real village need, connect sustainable trade, and keep enough military capacity to defend the result.

What Prosperity does

Donkey Crew's official village-system announcement describes Prosperity as a post-liberation progression bar. As Prosperity grows, village militia become stronger, patrols improve, and additional development becomes possible.

The 2026 Summer Update also links the quality of NPCs in neutral villages to Prosperity and continues expanding village trade and facility systems. Exact values may change, so use the current village interface for thresholds and improvement effects.

The Prosperity loop

Think of Prosperity as four connected responsibilities:

  1. Security: reduce threats that damage stability and travel.
  2. Improvements: invest construction capacity in useful village facilities.
  3. Economy: support supply and demand through appropriate trade.
  4. Defense: strengthen militia and respond when the region is challenged.

Ignoring one part makes the others more expensive. Trade is less useful when routes are unsafe; improvements are less durable when the village cannot defend itself.

Start after liberation, not before readiness

Liberation begins at the Belltower and triggers a Brigand response. Complete the village liberation checklist before opening the Prosperity phase.

After victory:

  • inspect the new village status rather than immediately moving on;
  • restore the player's food, equipment, and worker reserves;
  • identify the most important nearby threats;
  • review available village improvements;
  • decide whether the village will focus on trade, recruitment, militia, or regional support first.

Choose village improvements by function

Do not chase an old online table of the highest numeric reward. Choose improvements that fit the current village and version:

Village needImprovement category to inspectCheck first
Weak local defenseMilitia and training supportCan the village sustain the investment?
Limited population or recruitmentHousing and population supportIs regional security stable?
Missing trade outputEconomic facilityAre inputs and buyers available?
Poor supply reliabilityProduction or storage supportWill caravans actually service it?
Unclear regional threatScouting and security supportCan you act on the information?

The best improvement is the one that changes what the village can reliably do.

Use trade to support the village economy

The Maiden Voyage update expanded caravan trade with friendly villages and states that greater trade contributes to village Prosperity. A useful route should meet an actual village or settlement need rather than moving random surplus.

Build trade around:

  • a stable surplus your settlement can spare;
  • a village demand visible in the current economy interface;
  • goods the village can produce or sell reliably;
  • protected keep limits at the player settlement;
  • a route that can complete without constant manual repair.

The caravan routes guide covers the physical logistics.

Control regional threat

Official notes describe regional threat as influenced by bandit camps, patrols, adjacent regions, and migration. Threat can affect patrol strength and the pressure placed on villages.

Review the region as a system:

  1. identify camps and recurring movement that affect the village;
  2. protect trade and travel corridors;
  3. avoid opening several unstable regions at once;
  4. respond before migration or reclamation turns into a larger recovery cost;
  5. use growing militia as support, not an excuse to abandon the region.

Build militia deliberately

Prosperity and village military improvements can strengthen militia, including different troop roles described in the official update. Do not use a fixed online army number as a guarantee.

Instead, inspect current militia availability, equipment, regional threat, and the mission you want them to support. Preserve funds and the player's own capable force for situations where militia are insufficient.

Why Prosperity is not increasing

Check these causes:

  • the village is not fully in the expected post-liberation state;
  • current needs or economic requirements are not being met;
  • an improvement is queued but not supplied;
  • a caravan route is configured but not completing;
  • regional threats are offsetting gains;
  • trade is moving the wrong goods or violating local reserves;
  • the current interface shows a requirement not covered by an older guide.

Observe the direction of the Prosperity bar after one deliberate change rather than investing in several systems simultaneously.

Prosperity mistakes to avoid

Building only for the largest displayed number

Raw points do not guarantee that the improvement supports the village's role or supply chain.

Trading away essential settlement stock

Protect food, tools, and production inputs before exporting surplus.

Ignoring threats after liberation

Prosperity can decline when regional pressure goes unchecked.

Expanding several villages at once

One stable trade-and-defense loop is easier to maintain than several underfunded liberated villages.

Prosperity audit

  • Is the village secure enough for regular trade?
  • Is its current economic need understood?
  • Does each improvement have a defined purpose?
  • Can caravans supply inputs and collect useful outputs?
  • Are regional threats being reduced rather than postponed?
  • Is militia growth matched to actual defensive needs?
  • Is the player's home settlement still stable?
